Why the heck are we doing this?
First an foremost, we like writing code and, as Peter would put it, sleep is
for wimps. ;-)
The real reason is that we like .NET Remoting and its extensibility model. We
want to show the world that you can do some pretty useful ( and some weird)
things with this model. We also like the ideas behind SOAP and web services but
somehow believe that .NET Remoting is a superset of them and offers features
which are needed by today's developers. Some of which simply aren't possible
with ASP.NET or other classic web services toolkits.
And last but not least, we want to encourage other developers to see these
possibilities and want to get them started by providing source code which is
covered by a liberal license that allows the
channels and sinks to be used and extended not only in open source
environments.
